Today's Scenario: - In the Asian session, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures on NYMEX managed to hold above their immediate support level of $70.50. Initially, the oil price experienced a significant decline as investors grew concerned about the potential postponement of approval to raise the US debt-ceiling limit, which has heightened fears of a recession in the US economy.

Meanwhile, the US Dollar Index (DXY) is attempting to extend its recovery above 102.70. Investors have become cautious due to the lack of a substantial outcome from the negotiations regarding the US debt-ceiling.

Buy Scenario: - A strong recovery above the high of $73.80 from May 10 could fuel further upside momentum, targeting the high of $76.06 from May 02. A breach of that level would expose the price to the high around $78.00 from April 26. Till we do not advise to buy in WTI US oil.

Selling Scenario: - On an hourly scale, oil prices are forming an ascending triangle chart pattern, indicating a decrease in volatility. The trendline of the pattern is sloping upwards from the low of $69.39 on May 15, while the horizontal resistance is drawn from the high of $71.74 on May 12. Currently, the oil price is trading near the upward trendline of the pattern, suggesting a bearish bias.

The 20-period Exponential Moving Average (EMA) at $70.80 is closely tracking the oil price, reflecting a lack of significant momentum.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) (14) is fluctuating between 40.00 and 60.00, indicating that investors are waiting for a new catalyst to drive further market movement.

If the price breaks below the low of $69.39 from May 15, it will strengthen the downside bias and potentially lead to a decline towards the low of $67.47 from May 04. A further breakdown could push the price to a 17-month low of $64.31. Till we did not advise to sell WTI Crude oil.

Support and Resistance Level: -
