Today's Scenario: - The USD/CAD pair is facing selling pressure around 1.3440 during the early Tokyo session. The US Dollar is under pressure due to subdued US inflation and a dovish Federal Reserve. This is causing downside momentum for the Loonie as higher oil prices, coupled with US Dollar weakness, continue to support it.

The USD Index is nearing a two-month low of 100.82 as the US Consumer Price Index (CPI) missed expectations, coming in at 5.0% due to lower gasoline prices. However, core inflation has rebounded to 5.6%, although it remains in line with expectations due to the ongoing increase in rent prices.

Buy Scenario: - On the immediate recovery moves for the USD/CAD pair are restricted by the golden Fibonacci ratio, the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level around 1.3490. The 100-EMA hurdle of 1.3535 is also a challenge for pair buyers.

If the USD/CAD price remains firm above 1.3535, a convergence of the 200-EMA and 50% Fibonacci retracement, around 1.3565, will be a strong challenge for pair buyers.

In conclusion, the USD/CAD bulls should remain cautious unless they witness a clear upside break of the previous support line from early February, close to 1.3670 at press time. Till we do not advise to buy USD/CAD.

Sell Scenario: - The USD/CAD pair is currently trading near the weekly low of 1.3440 after three consecutive days of losses. The pair pulled back from the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement of the February-March uptrend and the 100-bar Exponential Moving Average, with bearish MACD signals.

However, the RSI (14) line is approaching oversold territory, indicating limited downside room for the pair.

The key support level for traders to watch is a horizontal area around 1.3400, which has been marked by multiple lows since March 3. The 78.6% Fibonacci retracement level around 1.3390 is also acting as immediate support.

If the USD/CAD falls below 1.3390, it could experience a bumpy southward run toward February’s low of 1.3262. Till we do not advise to sell USD/CAD.
