Today's Scenario: - The GBP/USD pair is currently consolidating near the significant psychological resistance level of 1.2500 during the Asian session. The Cable has attempted to break above this level a few times and is now gathering momentum for a sustained breakout. The increasing expectations of additional interest rate hikes by the Bank of England (BoE) to tackle double-digit inflation are providing fresh impetus to the Pound Sterling.
Meanwhile, the US Dollar Index (DXY) has regained its strength and surged above 101.70. Investors are now turning their attention to the Federal Reserve's (Fed) monetary policy decision, which is due to be announced next week.

Buy Scenario: - The GBP/USD pair is gradually moving towards a key resistance level at 1.2500 during Friday's Asian session after a two-day winning streak. The pair is defending its rebound from the 100-bar Simple Moving Average (SMA) and has a Relative Strength Index (RSI) of 14, which is not overbought.
If the pair can stay beyond the resistance level, it may move higher towards a horizontal area marked since April 04, around 1.2505-20. However, if it surpasses this area, it could face resistance at the Year-To-Date (YTD) peak of 1.2550. A run-up towards the May 2022 peak of around 1.2665 could become appealing in this scenario. Till we do not advise to buy GBP/USD.

Sell Scenario: - On the other hand, pullback moves need to break the 100-SMA support of 1.2440 to convince intraday sellers. If this happens, the pair's weakness may push it towards a fortnight-old ascending support line and the 200-SMA, respectively near 1.2410 and 1.2360. If the pair weakens further and breaks the 1.2360 support level, it may visit the monthly low of around 1.2275. Till then we do not advise selling GBP/USD.

Support and Resistance Level: -

S1 1.2456-R1 1.2519
S2 1.2414-R2 1.2541
S3 1.2392-R3 1.2583
