United Arab Emirates Dirham Currency code (AED)

The United Arab Emirates Dirham is the currency of the United Arab Emirates. The dirham is subdivided into 100 fils and is abbreviated as AED. The name dirham comes from the Greek word for drachma which was used in early Islamic times.
TheDirham has been pegged to the US Dollar since 1997 at a rate of 1 USD = 3.6725 AED and this peg will continue until at least 2019. This peg has made the UAE Dirham one of the strongest currencies in the world with low inflation and high stability.
