The Swaziland Emalangeni (SZL) is the official currency of the Kingdom of Eswatini (formerly known as Swaziland). It is divided into 100 cents and is issued by the Central Bank of Eswatini. The currency is pegged to the South African Rand at a rate of 1:1, meaning the value of the Emalangeni is closely tied to the value of the Rand. The Emalangeni comes in the form of banknotes and coins. The banknotes come in denominations of E10, E20, E50, E100, and E200. The coins come in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 cents, as well as E1 and E2. The Emalangeni is widely accepted within the country, and it is also accepted in some parts of South Africa. The Emalangeni is not widely traded internationally, and it is not widely available outside of Eswatini and South Africa. Travellers to Eswatini may find it more convenient to bring South African Rand and exchange them for Emalangeni upon arrival.
