The Negotiated Dealing System (NDS) is an electronic trading platform operated by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). It was introduced in June 2003 to facilitate the issuing and exchange of government securities and other types of money market instruments. The NDS provides a single window for all transactions in these instruments, including secondary market trades, repos and reverse repos. The NDS has two segments – wholesale debt segment (WDS) and retail debt segment (RDS). The WDS is meant for institutional investors like banks, primary dealers, mutual funds, insurance companies etc., while the RDS is for individual investors. Both segments have their own dedicated platforms called ‘Nds-OM’(for WSS)and ‘NeSL-OM’(for RBS), which are linked to each other. All participants must have a valid login id & password to access these platforms. Currently, there are over 600 participants registered on the NDS Platform.
