Lebanon Pounds is the currency of Lebanon and its Currency code (LBP). The Lebanese Pound is subdivided into 100 piastres. There are coins of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 piastres and banknotes of 250, 500, 1000 pounds. The Central Bank of Lebanon has the sole right to issue notes in denominations ranging from L£1 000 to L£50 000.The value of the Lebanese pound has been relatively stable since 1993. However, due to the country's political instability and high debt-to-GDP ratio, there have been calls for its devaluation by around 30%. If this were to happen, it would make imported goods more expensive and could lead to inflationary pressures.
