The Jordanian dinar is the national currency of Jordan. Its abbreviation, or currency symbol, is denoted by JOD. The dinar is subdivided into 100 qirsh (also called piastres), and 20 dirham make up 1 dinar. The Jordanian economy has been relatively stable since the 1990s, and the value of the dinar has remained steady against major currencies like the US dollar and euro. Despite this stability, inflation in Jordan has been a problem in recent years, reaching 6% in 2016.
