The Group of 20, also called the G-20, is a group of finance ministers and central bank governors from 19 of the world's largest economies, including those of many developing nations. Formed in 1999, the G-20 promotes global economic growth, international trade, and regulation of financial markets. The members meet regularly to discuss ways to improve global economic conditions and promote financial stability.The G-20 has been instrumental in helping to resolve some major international financial crises. In 2008 and 2009, for example, the group coordinated a response to the global recession that helped prevent another Great Depression.
