Grexit is a Greek technical term meaning "exit of Greece from the Euro-zone." It is often used as a nickname for the Greek financial crisis and economic depression. As Greece's economy falls apart, the country's financial institutions are losing money and the tax base is shrinking. The needs of the Greek population continue to rise, while the Greek economy is suffering from its inability to pay off its debts. Greek citizens are going hungry and are losing hope that their government will be able to help them. Grexit means that Greece will no longer be part of the Euro-zone, and will return to its former currency, the Drachma.
