The German 30 is a stock index whose constituent stocks are listed on the German stock exchange in Frankfurt. It was created on 1st July 1988 by the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (Dax). The index combines the top 30 largest companies of Germany according to market liquidity and capitalization.German 30 structure was based on Market capitalization, the number of listed shares and liquidity (i.e. number of daily trades). It was launched aiming at increasing an investor's awareness regarding the most liquid and active companies in Germany.This index is known as the German Dow Jones after its predecessor. It was introduced with the goal of following a similar pattern as the Dow Jones stock market index in the USA. The common stocks traded on the DAX exchange are in alphabetical order and ten companies can be included at any time.The DAX 30 is a list of the 30 largest companies traded on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The annual turnover of A shares exceeds $10 billion, 4 billion Euros and 25% of Germany's GDP.
