Electronic Brokering Services (EBS) is an organization created by some of the world’s biggest banks and financial institutions, whose goals are to provide an efficient, cost friendly, and liquid interbank Forex trading platform. EBS has been operational since 1990 and is now one of the leading providers of electronic FX liquidity. The company offers a variety of services such as spot FX trading, forwards, swaps, options as well as non deliverable forwards.EBS was founded with the goal to provide a more efficient way for banks to trade foreign currencies with each other. At that time there were no electronic platforms or protocols for currency trading so it was very difficult for dealers at different banks to find counterparties who wanted to trade the same currencies at the same time.EBS solved this problem by creating a system where dealers could submit bids and offers electronically which would then be matched by their computer algorithm. This allowed for greater liquidity in the market which in turn made it easier and cheaper for banks to do business with each other.The company has continued its innovation over the years by being one of the first providers to offer streaming prices in 1995 followed soon after by providing executable streaming quotes in 1997 . This gave traders real-time access to all bid/ask prices on EBS thus allowing them make better informed decisions about their trades .In 2004 , EBS became one of first platforms provider launch algorithmic trading capabilities . And most recently , in 2013 , they launched direct market access (DMA) capabilities which allows institutional investors around world gain fast & easy access markets without having go through traditional brokers.
