Council of the European Union

Council of the European Union

The Council of the European Union is a key institution in the EU, made up of government ministers from each EU country. They meet to discuss, amend, and adopt laws, and coordinate policies. The Council is responsible for making sure that all member states are working together towards common goals. This makes it an important part of the EU's decision-making process.
One advantage of the Council is that it allows for a high degree of democracy and accountability. Ministers can be held accountable by their own governments and by parliamentarians in the European Parliament. This ensures that laws passed by the Council are representative of public opinion across Europe.
Another advantage is that it allows decisions to be made quickly and efficiently. By having representatives from all member states come together to make decisions, there is less need for lengthy negotiations between different countries' governments. This means that important legislation can be passed more quickly than if each country were to go through its own individual process.
