The Accumulative Swing Index or ASI, is a tool developed by J. Welles Wilder to measure the breakout potential of a given market.
It is an indicator that can be used to identify the trend and predict the direction of price change in a market. The Accumulative Swing Index is calculated by subtracting the low of the current bar from the high of the previous bar and dividing that number by two.
The result can then be plotted on a chart, or used as an input for other indicators such as moving averages or Bollinger bands to generate trading signals.
